How TMS Therapy Works
TMS uses gentle magnetic pulses to stimulate the areas of the brain responsible for mood regulation. During a session, patients sit comfortably in a chair while the device delivers stimulation to targeted regions of the brain. Sessions typically last 18 to 20 minutes, and patients are able to return to work, school, or daily activities immediately afterward. Over the course of treatment, many patients experience a significant reduction in depressive symptoms and improved quality of life.
TMS is recommended for adults diagnosed with depression who have not responded to at least one antidepressant medication.
A typical course includes sessions 5 days per week for 4–6 weeks, depending on your treatment plan.
Side effects are usually mild, such as scalp discomfort or mild headache, and resolve shortly after treatment.
Many insurance plans now cover TMS therapy. Our staff can help verify your coverage and guide you through the process.
